The Borussia-Park will be full on Wednesday night for a big UEFA Champions League encounter between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Barcelona, but some important players for both teams will not be available to play in Germany.
The biggest absence is obviously Lionel Messi, who will not return to action until after the international break with a groin injury. The Blaugrana superstar has injured the adductor muscle in both legs, which has raised questions about the amount of minutes the Argentine has played this season. The problem isn't serious, but Leo was advised to rest for three weeks and be fully fit for the remainder of the season.
Another Barça player not traveling to Germany is Samuel Umtiti, who has a strained ligament in his knee and is also expected to return after the international break. The Frenchman has become a huge part of Barça's defense in a short period of time, but was unlucky to hurt his knee in training and suffer the first injury of his young career.
As for Gladbach, up to seven players are either ruled out or doubtful to face the Catalan giants because of physical problems. That includes front man Raffael, perhaps Borussia's best player. The Brazilian is a very good goalscorer and playmaker, and his talents will be certainly missed if he's unable to recover from a groin problem. He can still be fit in time, but it'll be tough to see him for 90 minutes on Wednesday.
