Barcelona will look to maintain their lead at the top of Group C in the UEFA Champions League with a trip to Germany to face Borussia Mönchengladbach in what promises to be a very difficult game for the Catalan giants. Two straight clashes in a row with Manchester City in the European Cup await in October, and a victory against Gladbach is key to arrive at the City double-header with the top spot in the group assured.

Barça will have to do it without Lionel Messi, who's still recovering from a groin injury and will not return until after the international break. Samuel Umtiti is also expected back in two and a half weeks as he's nursing a knee injury, and the Frenchman will be an important absence in the Blaugrana defense.

Luis Enrique still has a very strong squad at his disposal, though, and after resting key players in the La Liga match against Sporting Gijón at the weekend, he's set to send all of his best soldiers into a war of attrition against the exciting Gladbach.

Barcelona Projected Lineup (4-4-2, r-l):

Ter Stegen; Roberto, Piqué, Mascherano, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta, Arda; Neymar, Suárez

Out: Messi (groin), Umtiti (knee)

Borussia M'Gladbach Projected Lineup (3-4-1-2, r-l):

Sommer; Elvedi, Christensen, Jantschke; Johnson, Kramer, Dahoud, Wednt; Stindl; Hazard, Raffael

Out: Domínguez (back), Doucoure (fitness), Strobl (thigh), Drmic (knee)
