Luis Enrique: We pressed very well - FC Barcelona
"One of the objectives was to pay special attention to when we do not have the ball because we knew about the quality of Las Palmas, a team with great capabilities. In attack, we were not so clinical in the first half but in the second we were more accurate. With them defending as they were in a 4-1-4-1, they allowed clear chances to arrive to our inside midfielders and we took advantage well."

Luis Suárez: We had to work hard from the beginning - FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona enjoyed a 5-0 win over Las Palmas on Saturday, and one of the main protagonists of the day was on hand to give his thoughts on the team’s showing. Mascherano: Leo Messi and Barcelona need each other
Mascherano said: "I have no doubt that both Messi and the club need each other. The relationship between both parties has been really good up until now. I hope that, in terms of elite football, Messi plays here forever. There’s no better place for him, although it’s a matter which must be dealt with in private by Barcelona."

Bartomeu: Messi extending his contract is essential for the Club - FC Barcelona
Josep Maria Bartomeu made it clear from the directors’ box at the stadium that "Messi’s contract extension is essential for our Club." Bartomeu attempted to send a message of confidence to fans, admitting "I have had conversations with Messi’s family and people so that he can continue here." The blaugrana president went to assure everyone, saying "when there is news, I will let you know."

FC Barcelona B v Hércules: Prestigious win to kick off the year at home (2-0) - FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona B kicked off 2017 at the Miniestadi in style with a 2-0 win over Hércules, the league’s third-placed side to remain top of the pile. Xemi glanced on Perea’s corner and, via deflection, found its way in the net to send Gerard López’s men on their way. The second half started in perfect fashion for the hosts as they grabbed a second minutes after the restart through Dani Romera. Aleñá’s corner was fumbled by the keeper and the ball fell kindly for Romera to tuck away a crucial second for his side.
