Mundo Deportivo: Darijo Srna Unsure of FC Barcelona Transfer

According to MD, Srna is not sure he wants to accept a lower salary.

The Darijo Srna saga continues. The Shakhtar Donetsk fullback is Barcelona’s #1 target to replace Aleix Vidal in the current transfer window. There appears to be an offer on the table for both the transfer fee and a contract for the player.

But that latter part is the sticking point, according to a report written by Francesc Aguilar for Mundo Deportivo. See, Srna is used to a large paycheck for playing in Ukraine, and Barcelona do not currently want to pay that high a wage for an aging fullback.

To complete the move, Srna would have to accept a lower salary. Accepting less money is never fun, but Srna is tempted to play for a team as universally known as FC Barcelona.

He has only played in Croatia and Ukraine, and this would be his first chance to play in an elite league, as well as his best and last shot to win the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernández and chief negotiator Raül Sanllehí are in contact with the Croatian player. They have told him the decision to join FC Barcelona is now in his hands.
