Marc-André ter Stegen made six saves against Eibar SD, including a couple that will go on this season’s highlight reel, keeping his eighth clean sheet in the league this term.

But just as impressive was what he did with his feet. Ter Stegen completed more passes than any Eibar player, and more than any Barcelona player bar Ivan Rakitić and Samuel Umtiti, according to stats from WhoScored.

Ter Stegen completed 77% of his passes, and he played more long balls than any other Barcelona outfield player, as well.

With Lionel Messi in world-beating form, it’s hard to argue against him being Man of the Match, but Ter Stegen has a strong case for second place.

His approach inherently carries risk - a miscued pass, a poor dribble, or any sort of error can be punished with a goal. But it also has the potential for a great reward, which is maintaining possession or creating chances from front to back.

If Ter Stegen continues to improve, his future at Barcelona looks exceedingly bright.
