Yerry Mina has been an FC Barcelona target for a while, and the club is poised to possibly make a move soon, according to Diario Sport. The Colombian defender has made his name at Palmeiras, where he has become one of the top players of the Brazilian league.

Barcelona had been following for a while, but Mina’s quick progression has alerted several European teams. Sport claims that if money was Mina’s only object, he’d already be a part of an English club. Mundo Deportivo identifies that club as Manchester City.

Mina, in an interview, said he wants to take it slowly and make the right move rather than rush in. But Barcelona’s time to make the signing is running out - sooner or later, Mina will move to Europe, and it’s looking a lot like it might be sooner rather than later.

Mina said he was flattered by Barcelona’s interest: “If with the help of God this opportunity comes, I will try and take it, and I will go there.”

According to the report in Sport, Barcelona are going to meet with the player’s uncle, who is also his agent, soon, and hammer out details.

The final decision will be up to Barcelona’s sporting director, Robert Fernández.

Mina also said that he admires Barcelona’s style of play, and likes to bring the ball out of defense. He named Gerard Piqué as one of his role models.
