Barcelona found themselves in a difficult situation today. They were scheduled to play Las Palmas at the Camp Nou, but amidst a tough political backdrop they were forced to make decisions, and make them quickly.
At the center of the entire decision-making process is president Josep Bartomeu. After a difficult transfer window and an effort to oust him, everyone had their eyes on what Barcelona would do and what Bartomeu would say.
Shortly after news was released that Barcelona would play their La Liga match behind closed doors, Bartomeu came out with some quotes on the situation.
"We all wanted not to play today, we are very worried about the situation, and give our support to all around Catalonia."
"We are playing behind closed doors as a protest at what has happened, not for security reasons. Mossos have guaranteed security."
"The important thing was to play the game, so as not to be docked points."
