Barcelona have confirmed that Andres Iniesta suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Las Palmas that will keep him out of action for 10 days.

The midfielder did not start the match but came on at half-time before being forced off with the problem.

Here’s the full statement from the club on his current problem:

“Tests carried out show that the player Andrés Iniesta has a hamstring strain in his left leg and he is expected to be out for about around 10 days.

“The midfielder came on at half time in the game between FC Barcelona and Las Palmas that ended in a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Busquets and Leo Messi (2). With just 6 minutes remaining, Iniesta was replaced by André Gomes.”

The injury is actually nicely timed, for Barcelona at least, with La Liga now on a break as the internationals take over.

Barcelona’s next fixture is against Atletico Madrid on 14th October at the Wanda Metropolitano, which promises to be a real test - but Iniesta should be fit in time.
