Grifols, a Catalan pharmaceutical and chemical company, is the business best positioned to become the Camp Nou’s sponsor, according to a report from El Club de la Mitjanit, which airs on Esport 3 and Catalunya Radio.
Barcelona are said to have many offers, but Grifols's bid is the one gaining the most steam. The deal could be record-breaking, but exact details are not known yet. The report did say it could last 30 years, a very long time indeed. Such a deal would bring up comparisons with MetLife Stadium, which is shared by the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Their deal with the insurance company lasts 25 years and is valued at 400 million dollars. El Club de la Mitjanit say Barcelona’s deal with Grifols would be even larger.
Barcelona have hatched a plan to expand and renovate the Camp Nou, a multi-year process that could cost over 500 million euro. A sponsor would greatly offset that cost, of course.
So, what do you think about the possible deal? Does the Camp Nou Grifols sound good to you? Let us know in the comments.
