Andres Iniesta has been talking football legends, and let’s face it, if anyone should know what it takes to be a legend, it’s the Barcelona maestro.

The midfielder was asked for a goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward and some of his choices may surprise you.

In goal we have Peter Schmeichel “because I think he's one of the great all-time goalkeepers,” and in defence it’s Paolo Maldini “because of everything he stood for as a player, for his national team and the club he was with throughout his career.”

Going further forward we have Michael Laudrup who Iniesta says “was my idol because of his playing style, because of his way of doing things, his style and his class.”

Which just leaves one position, expecting Lionel Messi? Well think again because Iniesta has gone for Ronaldo, and here’s why:

“As a forward, I would have liked to play with Ronaldo, because I considered him one of the best players in the world and one of the best forwards in the world.

“In 1996, which was the year he played for Barca, was also the year I arrived at the club.

“So he made a great impression on me that year, a year he also made a great impression on everybody.

“He went on to win so many things and he was the difference maker, every time he played.”
