Around La Liga: Sevilla’s Big Comeback, Atlético’s Big Win

Barcelona and Valencia seemed primed for the title race

Valencia drew 1-1 with Barcelona, and as they say “hay Liga” - but there was a lot to talk about around La Liga this week.

Sevilla did it again, this time coming down from 0-2 down to win 3-2 against Villarreal, this after coming down from 0-3 down to draw against Liverpool 3-3. Éver Banega got the winning goal after Gabriel Mercado won a penalty for the rojiblancos.

Atlético Madrid won, convincingly this time: 5-0. Antoine Griezmann got two goals an an assist, as did Kevin Gameiro, against a hapless Levante. Is this the return to form for Griezmann?

Real Madrid won as well, though not as convincingly. Cristiano Ronaldo tapped in a penalty he missed to secure the win 3-2 for los blancos. Málaga again felt hard done by as a goal was called off for a foul on a Madrid defender.

At the other end of the table, Las Palmas finally stopped the bleeding. They had lost eight on the bounce, but they got an equalizer today from Jonathan Vieria and managed to draw against Real Sociedad by a score of 2-2.
