FC Barcelona is poised to make a big move for Philippe Coutinho, again, in the upcoming winter transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Liverpool star was on the front cover of the sports daily, with the headline “now or never.” The report argues that, due to a few factors, Coutinho’s transfer makes sense in the winter more than ever.
That’s because the previous agreement with the player and his agent that was hashed out over the summer, when Barcelona tried and failed to land Coutinho, is said to still be viable now.
The report also says Liverpool agreed to sell Coutinho for the reduced-but-still-insane price of 145 million euro.
Coutinho said he is unsure where he will play, saying “what happens in January, we will know in January” after scoring a hat trick as Liverpool destroyed Spartak by a score of 7-0.
Mundo Deportivo goes on to say that Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid could be making offers in the summer, and that, coupled with a good World Cup for Coutinho, could drive the player’s transfer fee even further.
Thus, they argue, Barça have to make their move now, even if the player is cup tied for the UEFA Champions League.
