“They were phonies, scumbags.” That’s how current Juventus and former FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves categorizes Barça’s board, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu, in an interview with ABC. Despite persistent rumors that Alves would leave during his last years at Barcelona, the Brazilian claims "no one ever spoke to me to my face" about it.

Just days from Juventus’s clash with FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League, Alves did not hold back. "The people in charge of FC Barcelona don't have any idea how to treat footballers. They did not respect me. They only offered me a renewal when FIFA sanctioned them."

That renewal was in 2015. Alves had played for Barcelona for eight years, from 2008 to 2016, when he left to join Juve.
