I know that few people here follow Ligue 1, but remember this name: Bernardo Silva. He is a 22 year-old lefty midfielder from Portugal who started at Benfica and then joined AS Monaco in the summer of 2014.

For two years now, he is the undisputed creator and playmaker of the team. With his great dribbling and his ball control (to a certain extent reminiscent of Iniesta and Modric), he easily eliminates opponents and creates the danger with the right pass. With his great vision and timing, he sets the tempo of Monaco in midfield. He is also gifted in front of the goal as in his first season he scored 9 goals and had 3 assists.

Today, at age 22, he is already considered by Ligue 1 specialists as the best and most expensive player in the French league in front of players like Marco Verratti. What is remarkable and sets him apart from other players like Verratti or Philippe Coutinho is that even if he already plays at a high level (and personally I would say that he has the footballing IQ to be a future starter at Barca), he never disappears in games and has been consistently delivering for the last two years. The sky is the limit for him as and I hope that Barça will buy him in the summer. He would be a massive upgrade in midfield, especially if we hire a possession oriented coach like Jorge Sampaoli.

There are reliable reports that suggest that Barça are scouting him, and Robert Fernandez was closely watching him in person in the stadium during the last league game of Monaco.
