Heading into a fourth straight round of fixtures just one point off the pace, a victory over visiting Sporting Gijón on Wednesday night — kickoff at Camp Nou is set for 7.30pm CET — will move Barça atop the table, albeit provisionally, for the third time in recent weeks. "It would be naive to think that we do not depend on the best player in the world," said Enrique. "I still consider him as more of a forward. Sometimes he spends more time in midfield to help us in terms of numbers but I don't think it matters if he's spending more time in midfield or up front. What matters is his form."

This will be the Barça team’s debut in front of their own fans. The game was originally postponed in July because the European Championship would have had a detrimental effect on the line-ups, due to so many of the players having professional duties.
