Is there any chance for an emergency signing?

Tino Fernández, president of Deportivo de La Coruña, has said he denies “categorically” having any contact with FC Barcelona over the transfer of Juanfran Moreno.

Juanfran is being touted as an emergency replacement for the injured Aleix Vidal. Barcelona are allowed to sign one player, but he must play in La Liga or be a free agent, and he can only play in domestic competitions.

Barcelona are challenging for the league title and the rumor is they are open to the idea of bringing in a replacement, and Juanfran is the leading candidate.

But Fernández denied such a proposition: "I have no contact with Barcelona. I don't think he will leave.”

Further complicating matters, Juanfran is technically a Watford player, on loan to Depor.

He is known as a right-back or right-winger and started his career at Getafe B, before eventually moving to Real Madrid B, making one La Liga appearance for the senior team, then Betis, before moving to Depor.

Depor are in relegation danger at the moment and have recently appointed Pepe Mel as coach.
