A late goal from Antoine Griezmann dashed Real Madrid's hopes of a first league win over city rivals Atletico Madrid since 2012-13 as the two crosstown foes played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Pepe gave Real a lead with a perfectly placed header early in the second half and Los Blancos looked like they were on their way to all three points, but Griezmann struck in the 85th minute to earn the Rojiblancos a share of the spoils.

Simone Zaza scored twice as Valencia racked up a third straight La Liga win at relegation strugglers Granada. Los Che followed home victories over Deportivo La Coruna and Celta Vigo with a 3-1 success at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, with Zaza netting twice in as many first-half minutes.

Sevilla were celebrating victory for the first time in over a month after beating Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 - although the hosts had it far from easy at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Jorge Sampaoli's men were without a win in six matches, during which time they had slumped to fourth in La Liga and been knocked out of the Champions League, but they were given a flying start as Stevan Jovetic put them ahead inside the opening minute.

After 17 years of quite excellent work in his role as Sevilla's director of football, Monchi was handed a farewell fit for even the most decorated of players at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan on Saturday. Prior to the meeting with Deportivo La Coruna, the 48-year-old was honoured in a way which turned attention to the staggering success he has brought to the Andalusian club since the turn of the Millennium.
