Barcelona are on high alert as a new report from L’Equipe claims Marco Verratti has formally asked to quit Paris Saint-Germain. The report says the Italian star has told Antero Henrique, PSG’s sporting director, his intention is to leave the French club.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, is known to oppose his exit, which could result in a transfer worth in the neighborhood of 80 million euros. Barcelona are reported to have made Verratti a priority signing, while reports say Verratti himself considers Camp Nou his #1 destination.

Several other clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City are known to be interested in the Italian midfielder as well.

If this report is true, could Barcelona be on their way to buying the player to return them to the UEFA Champions League summit? Or will PSG play hardball once again, not allowing Barça the chance to take one of their players? Let’s not forget, PSG denied attempts by Barcelona to buy Thiago Silva and Marquinhos in the past.

What do you think?
