A Dani Alves-Pep Guardiola reunion won’t be in the cards in the Premier League. The Brazilian fullback has officially signed for Paris Saint-Germain, rejecting Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Diario SPORT is reporting that Pep is angered at his former player as City thought the deal was essentially done. So sure was City of Alves’s signing that they were already confirming interviews with the player in the United States for the team’s summer tour.
The pair used to both work for FC Barcelona, and a reunion in England was said to be on its way. But PSG reportedly offered more money, and that, along with Alves’s wife’s preference for living in Paris, ultimately swayed the player.
"if Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt because of my decision, I'm sorry, but I've come here to become a champion,” Alves stated I was a little bit selfish when I left Juventus. I wasn’t trying to please everyone this time. if Pep has felt damaged, I ask forgiveness."
