beIN: Barcelona to Miss Out as Marco Verratti Set to Stay at PSG

PSG’s president is the chairman and founder of beIN

This is a bad omen for Barcelona fans hoping Marco Verratti joins this summer: beIN Sports tweeted via their Arabic account that “sources have told beIN that Marco Verratti is staying at Paris Saint-Germain.”

Why is this particularly a big deal? Well, because Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, is also the founder and chair of the beIN Media Group.

This message probably didn’t get tweeted out without Al-Khelaifi’s blessing. Which means he’s probably extremely confident Verratti is not leaving.

And let’s face it: Verratti is under contract, and he has no release clause. Sure, he can refuse to train, even refuse to play. Barcelona can launch the craziest bids. But PSG can still say no.

Of course, this fight with Verratti isn’t good for PSG either, if he becomes unsettled and it affects his play or if he misses time. So Verratti can still try to force his move, and PSG can take the money.

We will see what happens with this saga.
