With Marco Verratti’s transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to FC Barcelona looking impossible, the Blaugrana are looking to other options. In a report from Mundo Deportivo, three German options were mentioned: Julian Weigl (Borussia Dortmund), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), and Leon Goretzka (Schalke 04.)
However, the report says Weigl is too similar to Sergio Busquets and therefore not the correct profile, while Kimmich could prove impossible to take away from Bayern. That leaves Goretzka, which MD says is a “top level” target for Barcelona.
Goretzka did not sign an extension with Schalke and is very much on the market. Arsenal were thought to be one of his most probable destinations until Bayern Munich came calling. Now, according to German paper Bild, Goretzka joining the German champions is a matter of when, not if. Can Barcelona successfully double hijack the Bavarians’ hijacking?
