Barcelona will almost certainly sell or loan Sergi Samper after the capture of Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande. Samper still doesn’t have a shirt number and is not likely to be registered for the league.
Samper had already gone onto the Camp Nou pitch without a shirt number even before the Paulinho signing, but the transfer seems to confirm the youngster will be leaving.
Samper has a contract until 2019 and spent last season on loan at Granada. It remains to be seen if Can Barça still rates him as a future Barcelona player, despite Samper having come up as a much-touted prospect in the academy.
Barcelona have a surplus of midfielders and it’ll only get worse if Philippe Coutinho joins from Liverpool. We could see the likes of Sergi Roberto, Arda Turan, or Andre Gomes leave the club as well.
