Congrats, boys! Don’t get injured, please

Spanish national team manager Julen Lopetegui announced on Friday a 26-man list for next month’s World Cup Qualifiers. Spain will face Italy (September 2) and Liechtenstein (September 5), and five Barcelona players have been called up to represent their country.

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Pepe Reina, Kepa Arrizabalaga

Defenders: Jordi Alba, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marc Bartra, Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernández, Nacho Monreal, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Ramos

Midfielders: Isco Alarcón, Thiago Alcântara, Sergio Busquets, Suso Fernández, David Silva, Andrés Iniesta, Saúl Ñíguez, Koke, Marco Asensio

Forwards: Iago Aspas, Gerard Deulofeu, Vitolo, Álvaro Morata, Pedro, David Villa

Piqué, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Iniesta and Deulofeu are part of the list, and all of them except for Deulofeu will start against Italy. The biggest news is the return of Spain legend David Villa, who has been in fantastic form for New York City FC in MLS and earns a return to the national team.

Congrats, Barça boys! Don’t get injured, please.
