Valencia earned a great point against Real Madrid, Leganes won again, and Real Sociedad turned on the style. Those were the big stories around the league on the second matchday.

Real Madrid dropped points for the first time this season despite Marco Asensio’s brace. Both teams had chances galore, but in the end the score ended 2-2.

Leganes got their second win of the season out of two, this time against Espanyol, by the score of 1-0. Martin Mantovani scored the only goal of the match. Leganes have won their first two games 1-0, good enough for third place at the moment.

Moving onto first place is Real Sociedad, who got an impressive 3-0 victory over Villarreal. Club legend Xabi Prieto marked his 500th appearance with a goal. Willian Jose and Juanmi scored the other two.

Barcelona and La Real are both on six points and a +4 goal difference, but it is the Basques who are theoretically top of the league thanks to having scored six goals to the Catalans’ 4. That’s theoretically because the first tiebreaker is head-to-head results, and we haven’t gotten those yet.
