A young fan was being pulled away in tears before Lionel Messi made his day with a touching gesture. It all happened as the Argentine star is with his national team ready to play Uruguay in Montevideo.
An 11-year-old boy, Luciano Viejo, evaded security at Messi’s hotel to get close to the player. But as he got close to his idol, the staff caught up to him and pulled him away.
As Viejo was being pulled away, Messi noticed him. The Barcelona star told staff to bring the boy back to him. He then hugged the kid, and they posed for a picture together.
The boy was emotional after meeting his idol. When asked what the photo meant to him, all he could say was “I don’t know, I don’t know” while trying to hold back tears. “I can’t even talk.”
