FC Barcelona has given up the chase for Guangzhou Evergrande’s Paulinho and now prioritize the signing of Jean Seri from Nice. That’s according to two reporters from Mundo Deportivo.
Roger Tellero writes that Barça seemed to have backed off Paulinho as Neymar left. Paulinho and Ney are friends and teammates in the Brazilian national team. Neymar’s departure, as well as Guangzhou’s insistence on the 40 million euro release clause, have made the Blaugrana back off. The report says Seri could cost just 25 million. That could be a steal in the current market.
Meanwhile Francesc Aguilar writes that Barcelona could cost “half of what Paulinho would cost” but warns that he may end up playing alongside Neymar at PSG if Barcelona do not act soon. Aguilar says Seri dreams of joining FC Barcelona, contacts have been made, and the player wants to sign as soon as possible.
He goes on to say that “Can Barça” were very impressed with Seri’s performance as Nice eliminated Ajax from the Champions League, and that scouts went to see him play in Amsterdam.
Will the Catalans secure his signing soon?
