The Joan Gamper Trophy is the traditional start to the football season at Camp Nou. The event honours the memory of the founder of the club, but today it was also about honouring Chapecoense, the Brazilian club that suffered such a horrific air accident en route to the Copa Sudamericana final in Colombia last November.

Then, in the midst of a great ovation, came the Chapecoense team.

A training session on Tuesday morning served as a recovery from the friendly against the Brazilian team and included every available player from the first team. Ernesto Valverde and his coaching staff also had Carles Aleñá and Adrián Ortolà of Barça B join the workout.
