Agusti Benedito’s Motion of No Confidence Has Over 10,000 Signatures

But time is running out

Despite Barça’s on-field success, the dissatisfaction with Josep Maria Bartomeu has not dissipated among many supporters. Agusti Benedito’s motion to remove Bartomeu as FC Barcelona president has surpassed 10,000 signatures. That puts Benedito around 6,500 away from the amount needed to initiate a vote to remove Bartomeu.

The trouble for him is that time is running out. The club says he has until September 27th to collect the required amount, which gives him just a week from today. There are two away matches from now until then, and that’s it.

Unless his pace goes up, he won’t reach the number by the 27th.

However, Benedito says he believes that he has until October 2nd, because he does not count Saturdays as working days. That would give him a much more realistic chance of success, as he would have one additional home game to collect the required amount.

Perhaps if he did reach the 16,670 signatures by October 2nd, he could launch some sort of legal challenge to override the club’s stance. Who knows if that would succeed.

Right now it’s looking like a good attempt that shows a lot of fans are angry at Bartomeu. But honestly, it doesn’t look like it’ll succeed. Of course, nothing is yet decided.
