At the very least, the Cameroon-born player will miss out this month’s games against Sevilla, Inter and Real Madrid but there are fears it could be a significant absence. Umtiti underwent treatment to regenerate the cartilage rather than undergo a knee operation, but this does not appear to be working and he may now need to be operated upon.

The exception was Carles Aleña, who trained with the Barça B squad. A brief break is set for the coming days, as the players are given time off before returning to action on Tuesday at 11am. Following the rest period, the team face a hectic schedule of 7 games in the space of 20 days.
