Ernesto Valverde praised striker Luis Suarez after he scored a hat-trick in Sunday’s Clasico win over Real Madrid. The boss said: “Everybody was talking about him not scoring but because he works so hard, the consequences are the results. In the long term, that’s what he does. We win from having him in our team. I didn’t think many people were going to ask me about Luis Suarez but obviously having scored a hat-trick, his worth is always there.”

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic stuck the boot into Real Madrid after Sunday’s win. He said: “Madrid were not very clever when they had the opportunity to equalise. We were able to get lots of bodies in the box and fight to make sure we stayed in front, then we were in a position to react.”
Barcelona have enjoyed some big wins over bitter rivals Real Madrid. Sunday’s match was their eighth time in their history that they have put five past Los Blancos. Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick, with Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal also on target.
Sergi Roberto said he didn’t want Sunday’s Clasico to end. He said: “I would’ve liked the game to go on a little longer. To get a result like this in a Clasico is desirable for anyone. It reinforces our confidence to win like this without our best player and now Leo [Messi] can rest and recover well.”
Sergio Busquets spoke after the match and gave his thoughts about winning El Clasico without the injured Lionel Messi. He said: “Normally, when we’re suffering, Leo is the answer. We look for him and he gets us out of those situations. But tonight we took a step forward as a team. His (Marcelo’s) goal made us suffer but we knew that if we won back possession and hit Madrid on the counter we’d hurt them. I believe the team has become stronger because of this.”
Jordi Alba reckons he enjoys setting up goals more than scoring them sometimes. He explained: “Sometimes I enjoy assisting more than scoring. It was a special match and Messi is always missed, he gives me passes that nobody else is capable of. We beat Inter and other rivals, but Leo is always missed.”
