Rafinha’s performances in the last few weeks for FC Barcelona, including games against Real Madrid and Inter Milan, have earned him a spot in the Brazilian national team. The player had not featured for the Seleção since a 4-1 friendly victory over the United States in September 2015. That was also the time he scored his only international goal.
Tite called Rafinha up after an injury forced Casemiro out of the team. Now, the Barcelona player will travel to London as the Verde-Amarela are set to play against Uruguay at the Emirates Stadium, followed by a match against Cameroon in Milton Keynes on Tuesday.
Casemiro had to pull out of Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Celta Vigo due to a sprained ankle.
