Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti offers another encouraging fitness update

Samuel Umtiti has offered another encouraging update on his fitness, as he bids to return to action after a knee injury.

The France international posted a picture on social media of him on Thursday in training with the caption “a little closer to the return.”

Umtiti hasn’t featured for Barcelona since the 2-1 defeat to Leganes at the end of September, and it’s unclear when he will play again.

The upcoming international break will allow him more time to recover, and it’s possible we could get a clearer idea of his progress after that time.

In the meantime Clement Lenglet has been doing a good job alongside Gerard Pique in the heart of the Barcelona defence, which means Umtiti has his work cut out getting back into the team.
