Barcelona and Adrien Rabiot have been the subject of dozens of transfer rumors already this season, but the temperature has gone up a notch with conflicting reports flying about.
According to Le Parisien, Barcelona have agreed a deal with Rabiot, who has refused a new contract with the French champions.
The report reckons that Rabiot could even line up for Barcelona against Lyon in the Champions League last 16 in February.
The report follows on from some pretty big developments regarding Rabiot’s future this week.
On Monday manager Thomas Tuchel said he “couldn’t guarantee” that Rabiot would still be with PSG come the end of the season.
Sporting director Antero Henrique then went one step further. He said Rabiot would not sign a new deal with PSG and was therefore “indefinitely benched.”
Yet the report of Barca agreeing a deal with Rabiot was swiftly followed by another claim denying that any of that had actually happened.
According to Sport, Barcelona have categorically denied they have an agreement with the midfielder.
We can expect more of this in the coming weeks, but Rabiot could well be on the move in the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen if PSG will sell this winter, but he’ll be a free agent next summer and if he’s not going to play they may prefer to cut their losses.
