Carles Alena is now officially a member of the Barcelona first-team squad and will wear the No. 21 for the rest of the season.

Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that he’s been officially registered with La Liga, after Rafinha was ruled out for six months, which means his days with Barcelona B are over.

Alena started the season wearing the No. 26 but will now wear the 21 which used to belong to Andre Gomes.

Here’s what the club has had to say about it all:

“FC Barcelona have officially registered Carles Aleñá with La Liga as a member of the first team squad, wearing number 21 as a replacement for Rafinha, who is out for some time through injury.

“The Masia product was already part of the first team set-up despite officially being registered as one of Barça B in order to ensure the playing time he needed after recovering from an injury of his own. But from now 20-year old will be part of the team with every right.”

We should hopefully get to see Barcelona’s new No. 21 in action on Wednesday when Cultural Leonesa are the visitors to the Camp Nou in the Copa del Rey.
