A report from MARCA today claims that the “only way” for Barcelona to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atlético Madrid is to sell three players. They claim that since Barcelona has spent so much lately, and also is going to be funding construction projects, they will have to offload in order to make the economics work.
They consider Rafinha almost as good as gone, as he is currently on loan to Inter Milan, with an option to buy. Denis Suárez, Arda Turan, André Gomes and Aleix Vidal are other options, they say.
In my opinion, Turan is certainly gone. Denis looks headed that way. Rafinha might have some glimmer of hope of staying if he returns to previous form, but it’s an uphill climb. Vidal could be pushed out of the team completely by Ousmane Dembélé by next season. Gomes has his doubters but he is getting minutes in the rotation right now, so Barcelona may only sell if the right bid comes along.
Honestly not sure why they insist it has to be three, it could easily be all of the above. Not sure that MARCA has any inside information here, but on the other hand, it does seem logical some sales are necessary to balance the books.
What do you guys think?
