Denis Suarez just can’t catch a break at the moment. The midfielder has struggled to even make Ernesto Valverde’s squad recently but was finally handed a rare chance to impress against Espanyol in the Supercopa de Catalunya.
The 24-year-old was pretty bright in the first half too, making some good driving runs forward and having a chance on goal which he fired over the bar.

One of those runs forward saw him upended and that’s where he seemed to pick an injury as he wasn’t moving too well afterwards.
Denis carried on for a few minutes but was replaced just before the break by Christian Rivera.

Barca later confirmed it was a groin problem although it’s still not clear how long he might be sidelined for. However, it’s a real blow for Denis who has had few chances in the first team recently and may not get too many more.
