Spain’s World Cup roster has officially been released and Barcelona players came out quite well. The four lucky men are Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Andres Iniesta.

However, it’s bad news for Sergi Roberto who will get the summer off after being left out of the squad.

The manager of the Spanish national team Julen Lopetegui named the roster based off of a strict belief in youth and experience. The blend of center forwards and midfielders are fascinating.

Also left off are Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas, while Diego Costa and Andres Iniesta are picked up. The youthful nature of this team could blend very well with the experience of players like Iniesta.

This will likely be Iniesta’s last World Cup and certainly a chance for him to leave his mark on the younger players on the roster. The plan of mixing the youth with experience is a smart move for Lopetegui, who hopes to bring the World Cup trophy back to Spain this summer.
