Barcelona legend Carles Puyol became the fourth player to receive the “One-Club Man” award from Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. The award was only launched four years ago and honours players who have dedicated their careers to just one club.
The Barcelona players look in good spirits ahead of El Clasico. Andre Gomes nutmegged Gerard Pique in training which left the defender perplexed and the rest of the players laughing at his reaction.
Barcelona are one of several top European sides keeping tabs on Chelsea teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi. The 17-year-old is very highly rated and could be tempted away from Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has given a petty response when asked about the pasillo again. “For them after the Club World Cup it wasn’t important to do the guard of honours and they said it was because they weren’t in the competition. That was a lie. To play in the Club World Cup you have to win the Champions League and we are all in the Champions League. They didn’t do it for us.”
Sunday will be Andres Iniesta’s final Clasico and to celebrate Marca have put together a list of his best moments against Real Madrid. They include his Clasico debut, the 6-2 win, telling Cristiano Ronaldo to shut up and receiving a standing ovation at the Bernabeu.
Andres Gomes has been left out of the Clasico squad which is apparently another clear sign that his time at the Camp Nou is almost at an end. He has a release clause of €100 million but Barcelona would be willing to accept far less for a player who cost them €35m.
