Cesc Fàbregas’s Wife Thanks Nigeria for Helping Lionel Messi

Argentina are still alive

Daniella Semaan, the wife of former Barcelona and current Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, has publicly thanked Nigeria on Twitter after the “super eagles” defeated Iceland 2-0 in the FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria’s win has opened a path, albeit a precarious one, for Lionel Messi’s Argentina to remain in the World Cup.

As fate would have it, Argentina now have to defeat Nigeria themselves to get into the next round. If they do so, and Iceland either fails to beat Croatia or wins but does not beat Argentina’s goal difference, the albiceleste will remain alive.

Messi and Fàbregas know each other from their time in the Barcelona academy as kids, and later from their time as teammates in the Barcelona first team.

Recently, Fàbregas has said that if his team, Spain, do not win the World Cup, he hopes his friend, Messi, gets to lift the trophy. Fàbregas has already won it, though he is not in the Spain squad this time around.
