Lionel Messi gives his verdict on Argentina’s clash with France

“We have watched every single France game. We follow every game.”

Lionel Messi spoke about Argentina’s last 16 clash with France after Jorge Sampaoli’s side qualified for the knockout stages with a win against Nigeria on Tuesday.

The Barcelona star scored his first goal of 2018 World Cup to open the scoring and will now face Les Bleus for a place in the quarter-finals.

“We have watched every single France game. We follow every game. France is a very good team with skilled individual players,” he said.

“They have very fast players who can really make a difference. I know what we will have to do. It will be a very tough game, no doubt.”

Argentina take on France on Saturday in what should be an intriguiging clash. France eased through qualification by beating Australia and Peru and drawing with Denmark.

Didier Deschamps has a star-studded squad to choose from, but the team haven’t completely convinced in their three matches so far.
