Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti lifted the World Cup with France on Sunday after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final in Moscow.
Speaking after the game the centre-back said that Didier Deschamps’s team had fully deserved to finish top of the pile in Russia.
“We deserve this. We’ve played really well throughout the whole tournament,” he said.
“What we want now is to celebrate this triumph with our families and our teammates.
”We won’t ever forget this moment. This is an extraordinary feeling. Now it’s time to celebrate, to enjoy this title.”

There was controversy about a couple of France’s goals in the final. The first came from a free kick which Mario Mandzukic headed past his own goalkeeper. However, Croatia will probably feel Antoine Griezmann went down too easily to win the kick.
Les Bleus then went 2-1 up after being awarded a penalty after a VAR review when Ivan Perisic was adjudged to have handled the ball.
Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba then killed the game off as France won the World Cup for the second time.
