FC Barcelona will play Boca Juniors at the Camp Nou on August 15th in the Joan Gamper Trophy, a friendly competition. The match will occur just days before the start of La Liga and days after the Supercopa de España, so expect a heavily rotated team.

Boca Juniors will be making their sixth appearance in the competition, tying PSV Eindhoven’s record for most by a guest. They will be looking to win it for the first time in their history. Barcelona have won it 40 times, including the last five. 1. FC Köln have won it more than any other guest, having won it twice.

Boca is one of the most decorated and famous clubs in the world. They are ranked fourth in most trophies won by a club in their history and have won the Intercontinental Cup (the precursor to the Club World Cup) three times.

Interestingly, Boca’s star player, Cristian Pavón, has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
