Sergi Samper to miss Barcelona’s pre-season US tour due to injury

Barcelona have confirmed that Sergi Samper will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the US due to concerns over a knee problem.

The midfielder was named in the original squad to travel to America but will now stay in Barcelona for treatment.

The club gave away few details about the nature of the problem and how long they expect him to be out of action for.

“The first team player Sergi Samper has a problem in his left knee and will stay in Barcelona to receive treatment and follow a specific training plan,” read a statement.

It’s another setback for Samper who has also just returned to action after suffering an swful ankle injury while on loan with Las Palmas last season.
