Ernesto Valverde was full of praise for Ousmane Dembele after he won the Supercopa de Espana on Sunday for Barcelona with a brilliant strike.

Dembele started in Morocco and with the game tied at 1-1 fired into the top corner to give Barcelona the win.

Valverde spoke about the 21-year-old after the game and explained why he had been impressed with his performance.

“He has a lot of quality and he’s a Barcelona player,” Valverde said. “I know there’s a lot of things going round [...] But he started the game, he scored a wonder goal and he linked well with the team.

”In fact, he got better as the game went on. He was able to create space where there wasn’t much against a team that sat back more than we expected. And in the second half, he was really good.”

It was a moment of brilliance from Dembele, let’s hope we see plenty more of that over the new season.
