Lionel Messi has told Barcelona fans exactly what they want to hear, as he addressed the Camp Nou ahead of Wedneday’s Joan Gamper Trophy game against Boca Juniors.
The new club captain made the traditional speech before kick-off and told supporters that the team will be going all out for the Champions League next season.
“Regarding this year, I think we have set a platform to get excited, the signings that came will help us a lot to be better than we were.
”Although last year we won La Liga and the Copa del Rey, we all got stung in the Champions League.
”We promise that we will do everything possible so that this beautiful cup returns to the Camp Nou again.”
Messi then went on to lead the team to a 3-0 triumph, scoring the second goal and picking up yet another man of the match award.
