Ivan Rakitic wants Lionel Messi to keep on scoring for Barcelona after his brilliant display against PSV. He said: “That foot is impressive and he has scored another wonderful goal. I hope he doesn’t stop and that many more go in.This game was tough for us at first, which is normal since this is the Champions League and it’s the first game.”
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen said the whole team deserves praise for their win over PSV Eindhoven, not just hat-trick hero Lionel Messi. He explained: “Leo always appears. That’s Leo, there’s no player like him, he always manages it, he’s always available and ready to look for a solution. Messi has always been key, he had a good game, but there are 10 more players and they did well too.”
PSV coach Mark van Bommel said there was no shame in losing to Barcelona after going down 4-0 in the Champions League. He explained: “You can lose here; there is no shame in that. We have the youngest players and we are still on the right road. They are far ahead of us at the moment.”
Rakitic looks unlikely to sign a contract extension this season after president Josep Maria Bartomeu said he’ll have to wait until next year. His words have attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs who are keen on the Croatia international.
Roma sporting director Monchi has been linked with a move to Barcelona recently. He’s responded to the rumors and doesn’t seem at all interested. He said: “I don’t talk about things that don’t have any sense, like an offer from Barça.”
