Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has been hit with a one-game ban for his red card against Girona on Sunday.

The Spanish champions appealed his sending off, but it’s proved to be unsuccessful as the Competition Committee have suspended him for one game.

The decision means he will miss Wednesday’s trip to Leganes, but he will be available to face Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

That’s good news for Ernesto Valverde, as it means he can get some valuable minutes ahead of the Tottenham game in the Champions League where Barcelona will need a replacement for the suspended Samuel Umtiti.

Lenglet looks the most likely to come in for the game at Wembley Stadium, but Valverde could also turn to Thomas Vermaelen.
