Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong could publicly announce his new team in less than a month, according to a show on Catalunya Ràdio. The midfielder has been a long-term target of FC Barcelona, although several teams, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Real Madrid, are said to also be interested.

Journalist Oriol Domènech said De Jong will surely not renew with Ajax and that he will make his decision known at least by the end of the year. The deal would not go through in the winter, though, but at the beginning of next year’s summer transfer window.

He also added that Madrid could be out of the running for getting to him too late. There was a report in the Netherlands recently that said they would offer 80 million euros to Ajax for his services, but perhaps it’s too late to convince the player to join los blancos as Luka Modrić’s eventual successor.

Barça could be favorites to land him, but it’s not assured given how many teams are in for him.
