Barcelona confirmed on Monday that Malcom is set for a short spell out after suffering a sprained ankle in training.

Fortunately the injury comes at a good time, as we’re now into the first international break of the season.

“In Monday morning’s training session for the FC Barcelona squad, Malcom suffered a sprain to the lateral external ligament of his right ankle. The estimated recovery time is one week.”

Malcom is only expected to be out for a week so should be back and in contention to feature against Real Sociedad on September 15.

The Brazilian has only made one substitute appearance so far this season. However, Ernesto Valverde spoke on Friday about how he’d need to use his squad after the international break when the fixtures come thick and fast.
