FC Barcelona are keen on renewing Jordi Alba’s contract, according to Mundo Deportivo. The left-back’s deal is up in 2020, and Barça want to keep the 29-year-old for longer.
Having successfully renewed the contracts of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto, the Catalans made sure to re-up Samuel Umtiti. Once that was done, the club looked to finish up buying and selling in the summer transfer market before setting their sights on Alba’s renewal.
Barcelona want to keep the money within a certain range, but they want to strike a deal. Alba reportedly also wants to stay at the club that brought him back from Valencia, having once been a youth player at La Masia.
His agents, however, are unhappy that Barcelona has taken this long to move to get a deal done. The club does not appreciate that added pressure, it is reported, but his agents feel as if a phone call is overdue. In any case, that phone call should be coming soon.
